Collaboration
We believe collaborations leverage intellectual property, market
impact, funding potentials and organizational reach.
In 1990, Paul Richard was a
founder and president of the Youth Museums Exhibit Collaborative (YMEC)
a group of ten children's museums in the US and Canada brought together
to create traveling exhibits to share with one another. Since 1990 over
thirty exhibits have been produced and the first one "Hands Can"
produced by the Children's Museum of Indianapolis is still on the road.
In the past three years we have helped form the following collaborations.
ZEC, The Zoos Exhibit Collaborative
has brought together six zoos in North America to produce and share traveling
exhibits (5000sq ft). ZEC was awarded a planning grant from National Science
Foundation. ZEC’s intention is to create experiences that combine
"the best of children's museums, the best of science museums and
add live animals!"
The National Association of Health Education Centers (NAHEC) Collaborative
has brought together six of its members under a different model that will
strive to develop exhibits and programs, plays and publications and media
that all participants can use simultaneously.
The Agricultural Collaborative will share intellectual property to create
programs that can be shared with others. "Vital Science", "What
the Heck is Biotech?" and "Health Fest" are the first projects. |
